Goals
We focus our efforts in 4 main areas:
Cross-Cultural & Civic Engagement
Our goal is to create greater opportunities for cross-cultural understanding and engagement. This process seeks to inspire culturally diverse groups and communities to learn about one another’s cultures and interests, especially demonstrating increased appreciation for diversity and working together to achieve common ground. At the civic engagement front, our effort is focused on increasing the participation of African immigrants and refugees in public life, including their active leadership roles on research, advisory, and policy making bodies.
Capacity Development & Creative Access to Resources
Our goal is to reinforce and measure the capacity development process of African immigrants and refugees, including an effective means through which they are able to access and apply resources. Drawing on research-driven media and marketing tools, as well as culturally appropriate outreach and organizing efforts, we are determined to bridge the gaps between their needs and their access to resource information and opportunities.
Media & Marketing Communication
Our goal is to employ communication tools—especially media and marketing platforms--to highlight the contributions of African immigrants and refugees, and influence a more informed public perception and narrative about their identity and contributions.
Fair Treatment & Legal Assistance
Our goal is to help protect and advance the rights of African immigrants and refugees, and strive to overcome barriers that impede their integration, especially ethnic or racial discrimination, abusive work conditions, and denial of access to public services. Our work is also aimed at expanding their knowledge of immigrants’ rights and responsibilities, with emphasis on immigration policies and laws. To foster our overall goal, we are committed to helping African immigrants and refugees increase their access to a wide range of relevant legal resources.
